The family-run logistics firm, which this year celebrates its 90th anniversary, acquired the forklift trucks from Impact Handling. Acquired under a long-term full maintenance contract, the Cat Forklifts are expertly designed and manufactured to withstand intensive duties and tough conditions of warehousing operations, while also ensuring a smooth and operator-friendly drive experience.
Bretts’ new fleet offers vastly improved energy efficiencies and will reduce the logistics provider’s carbon footprint by 139,266kg of CO2 per annum. Coupled with a reduction in both noise and emissions, the new range of forklift trucks are well suited to the operational requirements of Bretts Transport, which operates nearly 250,000 sq ft of warehousing space at its flagship site in Wisbech.
A number of the new forklifts have been fitted with a Push-Pull attachment, which is specifically developed for handling slip-sheeted containers. These 4-wheel Cat Lift models have a lift capacity of 2,500kg at 500mm load centre, and a maximum lift height is 5.5 metres.
Bretts Transport managing director Simon Brett, says: “Advancing our commitment to sustainability remains a constant focus at Bretts, which is why we felt converting our pre-existing forklift fleet to an all-electric option was paramount to achieving these goals.
“Impact Handling played a crucial role in ensuring a smooth transition to our fleet. Our goal was to find a forklift truck that was both emission-free and maintained high operational efficiency, and they successfully delivered this with complete ease. Their unique ability to meet customer demands in line with their specific requirements is in many ways why the partnership has endured for so long and is precisely why we have opted to procure our new fleet directly through them once again.
“We are delighted with the Cat forklifts so far, they have improved ergonomics and additional features that have been very well received by the FLT operators.”
Colin Ingram, regional sales manager at Impact Handling adds: “We are delighted with the response from Bretts Transport regarding their 13 new Cat Lift trucks – delivered during a time where the company is looking to accelerate its sustainability plans.
“The relationship between both businesses has grown from strength to strength over its eight-year lifespan, and the key to that has been to add that personal touch – to listen to their requirements and tailor the solution directly to their operation, while also supporting them every way we can by assisting them with their short-term and long-term objectives.”
