Major storage deployment part of LG’s growth plans

Storage solutions company AR Racking has fitted out new warehouses for LG in Spain.

Two adjustable pallet racks were erected on a total area of over 3000m2 with capacity for 8,124 europallets and 1,518 American pallets.

The project is a result of LG’s growth in Spain within all business areas and is driven by its commitment to provide its customers with excellent service. LG made the decision to have its own warehouses at Azuqueca de Henares, Guadalajara.

The installation takes up around one third of the total area of the facilities. The system used allows for immediate access to all SKUs stored and is highly versatile, since it accommodates all kinds of unit loads and fork lift trucks. It is also an agile system to mount, replace or add components in the future.

The installation is divided into two warehouses to hold LG’s diversified product range: one of them for finished products, with a capacity for 3,088 europallets and 1,518 American pallets, and another one for spare parts, capable of holding 5,036 europallets. Upright frames are 8000 and 9000mm high, and 1100mm deep.

AR’s partner Francisco Olivas, from Comercial Aspro, has helped in the project. For project development, the AR Racking team contributed expertise in storage solutions for heavy loads and experience tailoring systems to the needs of each customer. All deadlines and previously set requirements were duly met.

Integral service

AR took an integral approach to LG’s new facilities project, from the design of the storage system to manufacture in the company’s Tudela’s production centre to installation and maintenance. AR has a tech centre to develop R&D activities and advance engineering projects. This allows AR to carry out add-on services if required.

The solution designed is based on adjustable pallet racking, the most widely used system due to its efficiency and adaptability to discrete storage conditions. All characteristics of the system (load bearing capacities, etc.) are based on both the European regulations in force and FEM (European Federation of Materials Handling) recommendations. Full details of proper use and maintenance of the system are contained in the User Guide that AR Racking makes available to the customer. This is intended to encourage the correct use and maintenance of the storage systems installed in order to achieve the longest possible life of the installations in optimal conditions.

AR Racking is part of the Arania Group, an industrial organisation with over 70 years experience processing steel, international market oriented since founded. The Arania Group has 6 production plants with a yearly output of 250,000 tonnes, over 500 employees, and products which are present in over 50 countries, exporting over 80% production.
