GIGANTIC BESPOKE MOBILE ACCESS FOR RAIL AJAX has previously manufactured a number of bespoke mobile access units based on their standard mobile step unit model to protect the operators when working at height around railway lines and during rail loading. Amey, a company that works for the public creating better places to live, work and travel, approached AJAX with the task of fabricating their biggest mobile step unit to date and an three additional smaller units to assist top loading railway tankers and electrifications maintenance.
AJAX fabricated the bespoke Units at their manufacturing facility in Nottingham, UK, where their state of the art facilities enabled the full size construction of the giant 4.5m tall mobile step unit to be built and tested before finishing. On each of the Units the standing platforms were tested to 200kg to allow multiple operators to work on the platform at one time and specially manufactured toeing hitches were installed for forklift trucks or other operating vehicles could manoeuvre the mobile Units with ease.
Once all testing was complete, the AJAX manufacturing team dissembled the huge construction for more efficient transportation where they were then fully galvanised for a robust finish to protect the unit against harsh conditions and then transported to site. The AJAX team assembled the giant Unit onsite at the rail location and completed their safety checks ready for use.
