£3.5m warehouse investment
Farrall’s Transport has invested £3.5 million expanding its warehousing capacity with a further 81,000 sq ft food grade facility at Deeside Industrial Estate, Deeside.
The new warehouse complements the company’s existing 80,000 sq ft distribution centre on the same industrial park.
Located on one of the largest commercial sites in North Wales, Farrall’s new Deeside warehouse is well placed to serve the needs of expanding local industries, offering close links to the national motorway network via the M56 and M6. Being just half an hour from Liverpool Docks and the new Liverpool SuperPort, due to open in 2015, the new facility enables Farrall’s Transport to tap into the fast developing market for portcentric logistics.
Mike Farrall, MD of Farrall’s Transport says: “Portcentric logistics has started to gather pace as a supply chain strategy and a growing number of retailers and manufacturers are now looking to store goods and undertake logistics activities close to the port of entry. Being within half an hour’s run of Liverpool’s new SuperPort places Farrall’s in a strong position to tap into this developing market when the port opens in 2015.”
Farrall’s Transport, a founding member and shareholder of PalletForce, will also be re-locating its PalletForce depot from Ashton, near Chester, to the new Deeside warehouse. The move will save two hours a day for each of the vehicles dedicated to PalletForce operations and allows for significant expansion of the company’s pallet network business by offering over 10,000 sq ft of covered space and 20,000 sq ft of yard space.
