Continental Tyres to attend CV Show

Continental Tyres will once again be exhibiting at this year’s CV Show, running from the 14-16 April 2015, showcasing a whole host of new products and services which demonstrate how the right tyres can help operators to achieve lowest overall driving cost.

The first in the Continental Tyres line-up is the ContiRe CityService tyre, a retreaded tyre specially developed for waste and refuge vehicles. Tyres for vehicles used in waste disposal face tough challenges, from narrow cornering and frequent acceleration and braking to repeatedly driving up to and mounting curbsides. The CityService tyre guarantees optimum durability and long service life thanks to an innovative non-directional tread structure and a dual-sided reinforced sidewall. This tyre comes in two types: the HA3 for use on all axle positions and the HD3, which is designed specifically for the drive axle, offering optimum traction in particularly demanding environments.

Next up are the Conti Hybrid 22.5 Drive and Trailer tyres, which complete the roll-out of the new Generation 3 Hybrid range. The Hybrid range provides the best balance in mileage and fuel efficiency for a broad range of applications. These additional sizes follow the 17.5, 19.5 and 22.5, Steer tyres which were launched in 2014. The Hybrid range features a range of technologies all designed to provide market-leading mileage, rolling on a newly designed tread with a two-layer construction (cap base). The larger “plus volume pattern” in the tread also considerably reduces rolling resistance.

The highly successful ContiPressureCheck Tyre Pressure Monitoring System provides real time tyre pressure and temperature information, along with alerts to signal pressure loss. The system from Continental enables proactive pressure maintenance, helping prevent costly tyre breakdowns at the side of the road, whilst reducing fuel consumption and prolonging tyre service life.

Launched in 2013, the ContiPressureCheck system has been adopted by a number of fleets who are now reaping the benefits. This year will see ContiPressureCheck integrated into fleet management systems – meaning operators can incorporate tyre pressure and temperature information seamlessly into their current fleet management systems. In this way any problems can be caught and dealt with early on.

Last but not least is a new radial tyre in Continental’s Speciality range used in ports and harbours on terminal tractors and trailers. Due to its performance characteristics, namely high durability under demanding conditions and good wear resistance, the 300 / 80 22.5 Conti Terminal Transport tyre is also ideal for yard shunters in logistic operations. Trials show that Conti Terminal transport tyres can last up to 50 per cent longer than tyres currently used in these applications. The tyre’s excellent wear resistance is provided by a closed shoulder, ensuring more even wear, a wear-resistant compound and the ability to run at higher pressures.

As well as the featured products, the Continental Specialty team will be available in Hall 5, Stand G120 at the show to discuss cost-effective tyre solutions for materials handling and forklift operations as well as promoting the services of the new Conti Industrial Network – a national network of IMI-trained, quality tyre service providers specialising in industrial vehicle tyres.
