Heavy rotation

Hard landscaping manufacturer Marshalls has taken on 360 degree Kaup Fork Rotators on flexible casual hire contracts from B&B Attachments.

The Kaup Rotator attachment is fundamental for onsite operations when loads require rotating, and is used by Marshalls to empty containers, to turn palletised and non-palletised goods, and to deal with waste. Rotators can be equipped with a fork carriage and forks, as well as with clamps or other load handling attachments.

Kaup Rotators allow for optimal visibility when approaching loads, while increasing driver confidence and ensuring safe and secure handling. The hydraulic drive is located on the side away from the operator resulting in excellent visibility, enabling fast and reliable operation.

Ian Moir, logistics manager at Marshalls Falkirk says: “The rotator attachment provided by B&B Attachments is an integral part of our operation and has made a big difference to our on-site productivity. The ease of use and reliable operation of the attachment, together with the service given by B&B, has been second to none.”

The hire arrangement gives Marshalls the option to return equipment at any time if they no longer have a requirement, or to send the equipment to other Marshalls sites that may have the demand.

Kaup Rotators are available from B&B Attachments for short and long term hire and can fit to almost any forklift truck. B&B has access to a large fleet of attachments for short and long term hire, covering every industry sector. All hire attachments include full maintenance and breakdown cover as part of the rental package.

Bespoke design

Beacon Packaging has taken delivery of two designs of Kaup Fork Positioners and one specially-designed Rotating Load Inverter, delivered through Locators.

Simply designed and economical, the KAUP Fork Positioner T163SN has symmetrical fork adjustment. Its strengthened design allows Beacon Packaging to increase flexibility and enhance profitability with greater handling capacity of every forklift truck, especially when the width of the load changes constantly.

The robust KAUP Fork Positioner T410Z is ideal for when a large opening range is required on a small construction width.

Also provided to the packaging company is the KAUP Pallet Turnover Clamp T451W. This attachment is designed with high visibility and suitable for all kinds of applications. Used by Beacon Packaging to turn palletised and non-palletised goods, and to exchange pallets from production pallets to transport pallets, this attachment has been specially adjusted by B&B attachments to give additional fork positioning, allowing the attachment to cope with many different pallet sizes.

LayerMaster

Tradeteam is part of DHL and is dedicated to drinks logistics. It has a contract with Molson Coors in Burton-on-Trent.

On a daily basis, the National Distribution Centre in Burton-on-Trent receives containers of cased beer with a loading height of 2400mm. The time-consuming task of reducing the height of this somewhat problematic load was previously carried out manually by two people. To improve efficiency and safety, B&B Attachments supplied the logistics company with a LayerMaster attachment.

B&B’s LayerMaster clamp is specifically designed to cope with palleted loads that require splitting for easier handling and storage. The LayerMaster eliminates manual handling and helps prevent damage to the load.

The LayerMaster can lift a third of a 2400mm high pallet at a time, or alternatively just a single layer of boxes, thereby enabling the load to be quickly broken down or built up, by clamping single or multiple layers. This ensures products are handled quickly and safely with a minimum use of resources.

The LayerMaster can be adjusted for a wide range of products. It operates by making contact with the load on all four sides and requires minimal force to lift, thereby eliminating any possible damage to the packaging or product. Where multiple layer weights or varying products need to be handled, a pressure valve with three different pressure ranges can be supplied and fitted by B&B Attachments’ qualified engineers.

Graham Toon, site service manager at the Tradeteam NDC in Burton-on-Trent says: “The LayerMaster enables faster loading, unloading and end of line support. A job that previously took two people a considerable length of time is now completed in a tenth of the time and by a reduced work force. More importantly, it has dramatically reduced the risk of injuries and accidents to our workforce. ”
