Tug meets hospital’s requirements

New Cross Hospital has recently taken delivery of an additional tow tractor from Bradshaw Electric Vehicles to work in the Receipts and Distribution Centre, carrying out deliveries of medical consumables around the hospital site.

New Cross Hospital had a number of key requirements for the new tug; height and width restrictions had to be overcome, it had to be four wheeled, battery powered and towing capacity had to be a minimum of 6t. It also had to be suitable for the terrain found within the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust external road system, requiring particular flexible maneuverability within the underground tugway system.

The T800 tow tractor fitted all the requirements, with a towing capacity of 8t, a height and width within the restrictions and good maneuverability.  Key features include hydraulic drum brakes to all four wheels, electronic regenerative braking under deceleration, dynamic speed sensing to prevent over-speeding in all driving conditions, automatic hill hold and automatically applied transmission parking brake, covering all safety aspects.
