Extended lifting range

Transdek UK has added the 4-pallet vehicle to ground yard lift to the extensive selection of sizes available in its V2G range.

SPECIALISING IN the provision of modular loading bay equipment, the company initially developed the 4-pallet lift for an international online retailer. Supplied as a modular, surface mounted, plug-and-play pod, and designed to be fitted and ready to operate in less than 3 days, its installation is helping to improve operator safety by removing forklift trucks from the yards of the company’s regional distribution centres.

Being able to accommodate all goods vehicles, from 7.5 tonne trucks, to shipping containers and powered double decked trailers, the 4-pallet V2G lift can be installed at any warehouse facility with flat-floor loading bays or a level-access yard. Supplied as a pre-assembled, fully enclosed pod, the lift is fitted with external cladding as standard, with an optional roof module meaning that operatives are provided with a weatherproof and safe working environment.

Modular format

With a 4-tonne capacity, the lift’s 2600mm wide by 3170mm long platform can carry up to four standard pallets along with an operator on both the up and down stroke, and is operated via a single, powerful hydraulic ram providing reliable, durable, and low-maintenance operation. Access to the platform is via a steel durbar lead-on ramp which is fixed at ground level and forms an integral part of the overall structure. Being a modular format permits the unit to have self-levelling legs integral to the machine to cater for any localised yard or slab gradients, combine this with the fact that no pits are required to install the machine brings more advantages over a traditional scissor lift design.

Built to all relevant UK and European standards, the lift includes several added-value safety features as standard.  Protection for operators includes a light-beam-interlocked exclusion zone across the entrance of the pod; mechanically and electrically interlocked twin gates at both ends of the platform and safety barriers fitted to both sides of the hydraulic bridge plate providing edge protection when accessing vehicles.

Transdek UK managing director Leon Butler says: “Our new 4 pallet V2G lift provides a four-tonne capacity on both the up and down operation, whereas an equivalent scissor lift will only supply a 2.5 tonne load on the raise function. Additional benefits of this design of machine is that it comes with a separate lid module to give fully weatherproofed options when the unit is installed in external environments providing secure, safe and weatherproofed operations for the operators of the equipment and less damage to stock.

“The inclusion of a high-tech HMI main control panel which provides operators with an at-a-glance overview of operational status also helps minimise downtime and reduce maintenance cost, and the option of a mobile login means that our team of maintenance engineers can monitor operations and troubleshoot remotely if needed.”
