Robot-ready warehouse flooring

Posted on Monday 24 April 2023

THE FLOORING system has launched to meet the demands of the booming global logistics automation sector.

Hi-Tile from Hi-Level Mezzanines uses interlocking 7mm textured PVC tiles to create what the company describes as the most durable, cost-effective flooring on the market.

Hi-Tile’s high point load, electrostatic resistance and anti-slip surface make it a suitable partner for robotics solutions. It is already in use alongside Geek Plus Robotics and with Locus’s Directed Picking technology.

“The tile option is a great way to create a perfect floor very, very quickly,” says Simon Houghton of Geek Plus Robotics.

Installations range from 200 to 9,000 sq m for warehousing, production, automation and robotics environments. Hi-Tile is being used by clients including High Street retailers, supermarkets, 3PLs, specialist logistics firms and eCommerce wholesalers.

Hi-Level Mezzanines sales director Chris Baxter, says: “Hi-Tile is the cost-effective solution the market has been waiting for.”

Hi-Tile is said to be half the price of using steel plates on timber board, and moisture resistant so avoiding the cracking and blistering that can be seen with epoxy resin floors. Minimal subfloor preparation is required, says the firm, so Hi-Tile flooring can even be installed over uneven or damp slabs. It has a 10-year wearability warranty.

The product comes in a range of 11 colours, is said to be easy to clean and maintain and is made of recyclable PVC.

In terms of technical specs, the tiles can handle a point load of 100kgs/cm2 (static load) or 75kg/cm2 (dynamic load); has electrostatic resistance at 2kv, complying with IEC61340; is 7mm thick with R10 slip rating; as well as dimensions of 515mm x 515mm, fitting with interlocking dovetail joints.
