Retail yard space maximised by turntable

Movetech worked in partnership with the client, architect and main contractor to install an all-weather, electrically operated, 40 tonne capacity turntable with perimeter monitoring system. Its use allows a ʻdrive in forward gear– drive out forward gearʼ policy, from a busy main road access.

Outcomes

• The Waitrose branch is able to be served by full-size delivery vehicles rather than smaller bespoke units.
• Valuable retail space was maximised because the service yard was able to be restricted to 17m diameter.
• Local residents benefited from safer vehicle manoeuvring and reduced noise and other pollution.
