Dock Solutions assists with Downton’s alcohol distribution

The UK manufacturer of loading bay equipment, Dock Solutions, has completed work on a distribution centre for new customer CM Downton. The new site will contribute to CM Downton’s huge alcohol distribution operation.

Fleet variation, unique handling equipment and yard inclination can be very problematic when designing a loading bay. However, Dock Solutions managed to solve these problems for family-run logistics firm, CM Downton.

Barry Cinderey-Smith, director of Dock Solutions said: “The combined strength of our in-house design and manufacture meant that we are able to provide a unique solution which overcome the problems that our client faced during the loading and unloading process. We look forward to working alongside CM Downton into the future, and supporting them as their operations expand.”

Specifically designed to improve the efficiencies of the loading and unloading process, the new design is aimed to minimise the amount of time trucks will spend on the loading bays. The new bespoke equipment will also help to reduce the amount of product wastage through damages caused during this process.

The 282,297 sq ft warehouse has previously been used to film the BBC’s primetime show, Atlantis.

Under the contract Dock Solutions was responsible for the design, manufacture and installation of 15 fully refurbished loading bays. This also included the installation of 3 uniquely designed loadhouses, which were constructed from KS1100CS CleanSafe 120 coldstore panels.

With a tight construction schedule, the installation team was on site 6 weeks after the specification was agreed and drawings were signed off. The entire project was completed before the start of autumn.

The site was formerly owned by Tesco.
