First Dutch base for Europa

Posted on Monday 5 June 2023

Europa Air & Sea has announced its second investment of the year. The operator is now expanding its service into continental Europe.

THE OPENING of a new strategically located office in Rotterdam, Netherlands, follows Europa Air & Sea’s plans for a new team in Delhi, India.

The new team will be based at Marten Meesweg in Rotterdam, with a dedicated handlers for shipments destined for locations across the world. This venture confirms the continued importance of the Netherlands as a hub in the international air and sea freight market.

The quantity of freight passing through the Port of Rotterdam remains virtually unchanged when compared with 2021, despite the impact of the global economic downturn and the war in Ukraine. This demonstrates the resilience of Rotterdam as a global hub.

Europa Air & Sea director Angus Hind, comments: “The consistency of performance of the Port of Rotterdam under a uniquely challenging set of trading conditions shows its importance across a broad spectrum of sectors.

“This is an important step forward for Europa Air & Sea as we continue our global expansion. It’s vital that we base our operations in locations with both strong air and sea links, and Rotterdam is no exception.

“As well as Rotterdam and other ports within the Netherlands, ready access is available to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport – one of Europe’s busiest for both passenger and freight aircraft. Dutch air freight is very much on the up at the moment and we believe this will continue.”
