Thermally insulated doors

With a (possibly) hot summer ahead, Cooks Industrial Doors has advice for those who own a warehouse that stores fresh produce.

“You’re more likely to keep an uneasy eye on the thermometer as the mercury rises. Keeping cool means running air conditioning units and refrigerators. When you’re paying for all that extra energy to make an environment cold – you want to keep it cold. That means good insulation everywhere – including the doors,” says the company.

“At Cooks Industrial Doors, we supply and install Decotherm doors from Hormann. The slats on these doors are double skinned steel or aluminium filled with an insulating polyurethane foam.”

Other benefits include:

  • Opening speed of up to 1.1m/sec
  • Only 80mm side space requirement for all door sizes
  • New metal holders with polyamide sliding surfaces mean less wear on the door curtain
  • PVDD curtain cover protects the door barrel from dirt and adverse weather effects
  • L pads on the curtain interior keep noise to a minimum
  • Safety lights in the side grille

The company concludes: “Insulated doors will help keep your warehouse a constant temperature whatever the weather outside. Automated systems that open quickly will minimise temperature change when the door is in use.”
