Temporary warehouse helps Wincanton deliver contract win
Wincanton is the largest British logistics firm, providing supply chain consultancy with approximately 17,500 people across more than 200 sites and have a 3,400-strong fleet of vehicles. Aganto helped them out with a temporary warehouse.
So why was a temporary warehouse solution better?
Modern day third party logistics is all about being dynamic, responding to change and operating as efficiently as possible. With a new contract win dictating more warehousing space, the choice was another site and the complexities that brings, or utilising space on an existing site. As experts in collaborative warehousing and transport models, plus an absolute commitment to continuous improvement – the most effective solution was to hire in a temporary warehouse.
Maximum operational benefit
As well as being operationally beneficial, it also keeps the business model dynamic. Should capacity needs shrink or expand, the temporary warehouse can be downsized, expanded, moved or the contract ended.
Sustainability
Wincanton’s customers know that a well-managed supply chain plays a key role in mitigating their impact on the environment. Having a single site reduces vehicle movements and delivers an environmentally sustainable logistics solution – minimising the carbon footprint of the delivered mile. The Wincanton vision is to work together to build the most innovative, effective and respected logistics company. Aganto are delighted to been able to contribute with the supply of a temporary warehouse which was 20m wide x 25 m length x 4.2m high building.
