Get a load of the talent

The Talent in Logistics event is dedicated to promoting logistics recruitment and supporting staff retention. The event is moving to Milton Keynes for 2019 and the team will unveil a white paper on student perceptions of logistics in the coming months.

Talent in Logistics is dedicated to the recruitment, development, engagement and retention of the 2.2 million+ people working in the transport, logistics and warehousing sector. An industry that keeps Britain moving and contributes over £120 billion to the UK economy every year.

Founded in 2017, they were specifically developed to support HR, L&D and Operational professionals within the industry and aim to encourage organisations to address skills challenges and invest in training and career progression. Part of their mission is to support the retention of staff and attract new employees, promoting the importance of recruiting talent from groups that are currently under-represented within logistics.

Working to be the go-to voice for advice on attracting, developing and engaging blue collar workers, Talent in Logistics will share knowledge and advice on many topics. Most recently encouraging flexible working, youth employment and employee engagement. On the agenda for 2019 are items such as mentoring and roles for ex-offenders and ex-military. Working collaboratively with leading organisations they will offer research and thought leadership, provide tools and create discussions to help employers and champion those that work within the industry.

As part of their research, Talent in Logistics attended WorldSkills UK Live in November 2018 to understand young people’s perception of the industry. Students were asked to fill out a survey to share their thoughts on the industries that appear most attractive to them, what they’d like to find in a future employer and if they’d consider a career in logistics. These results will form a whitepaper and will be shared in the upcoming months.

Event

As well as working collaboratively with industry throughout the year, Talent in Logistics will also host an annual awards and conference on 27th June 2019. With 2019 being the 3rd year and with a new team on board they are taking a new approach, with a range of new additions and updates to make it the must-visit event for HR, L&D and Operational professionals within the sector. 2019 is expected to attract hundreds of delegates who will gather to share knowledge and celebrate those who keep the cogs of the industry running daily.
