Flagship warehouse gains The Planet Mark

Last year, Yusen Logistics UK expanded its service offering with the opening of its state-of-the-art warehousing facility in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire.

Strategically located within close proximity to major transport routes and road networks, the facility was the first unit at Prologis Park Wellingborough West. Today, the 368,000 sq ft site employs in excess of 200 employees; dispatching over 40,000 units a day of high end consumer electronics serving same or next day nationwide delivery to more than 150 end destinations.

The site is A rated in BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) and has the best EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) rating possible for its size. It has also attained The Planet Mark certification – achieving a lifetime carbon reduction of 24.7% (or 6,303 tCO2e).

Through The Planet Mark programme and in line with their ongoing commitment to sustainability, over 270 acres of rainforest in Southern Papua, New Guinea, has been protected to mitigate 100% of the unavoidable embodied carbon associated with the development of the new site.

In collaboration with The Eden Project, Yusen Logistics worked with local communities to deliver sustainability workshops to more than 230 children from two local primary schools – both of which subsequently received The Planet Mark accreditation.

Inside, the facility features high-tech security, biometric fingerprint scanning and the latest technology to provide a seamless service to Yusen Logistics’ blue-chip clients.
