Fronius launches next-gen battery chargers

The traction batteries for intralogistics – the Selectiva 4.0 product family – are said to be ready for intelligent networking and alternative charging technologies.

The manufacturer adds they offer an extremely gentle and energy-efficient process for charging lead-acid batteries. The Selectiva product family includes several models in the 2, 3, 8, 16, 18 and 30 kilowatt power categories. Users can use these chargers to charge traction batteries with output voltages ranging from 12 to 80 volts. A key advantage of these chargers is their high degree of flexibility. The devices not only have characteristics for all current lead-acid, lead-crystal, CSM and gel batteries, but they also charge types of battery with different voltages. This simplifies the charging processes and helps forklift truck operators to save costs.

“With the latest generation of devices, we are catering even better to our customers’ needs and are also picking up key trends such as networking, cost optimisation and alternative drive systems,” emphasises Patrick Gojer, global director of Fronius Perfect Charging. This also encompasses new product functions such as the Power Charging Option, which significantly improves rapid charging and opportunity charging of lead batteries, and the Cold Logistics Option, which improves battery performance at low temperatures by warming the batteries up with an increased amount of energy at the start of the charging process.

There was a clear focus on future-proofing in the development of the new battery chargers.

“It is important to us that our customers not only benefit from their investment decision today but also in the coming years,” explains Patrick Gojer. The Selectiva devices impress with features such as their long service life. This enables Fronius to grant a five-year full product guarantee. Patrick Gojer sums this up: “Fronius honours its commitment to the future by developing battery chargers that are already ready for use in a digitally networked production and logistics environment.”

The Selectiva 4.0 also scores points in terms of sustainability. “Each charging process is optimally tailored to the needs of the battery – this ensures ultra-cool and gentle charging. Energy consumption can thus be reduced by up to 30 percent compared to other technologies and the CO2 emissions can also be substantially reduced as a result of the economical charging technology,” says Patrick Gojer.

This package is rounded off by a wide range of functions and a broad selection of special solutions for specific applications. The Selectiva devices are part of a comprehensive solution for the customer comprising service, advice and system components. Fronius supports users to ensure they have a sustainable and efficient battery charging solution with the ideal combination of equipment and thus helps to optimise the operating costs for electric forklift trucks in a sustainable manner.
