Net zero carbon warehousing set for Bedford
Central Bedfordshire Council has given the go ahead for the next phase of development at Symmetry Park, Biggleswade, which will create 577,000 sq ft of logistics space which will be the first Net Zero Carbon delivered in the District.
In June 2019, the UK became the first major economy in the world to pass a Net Zero emissions law whereby the aim is to reduce all greenhouse gas emissions to Net Zero by 2050. Construction is anticipated to start in May next year with practical completion due Q4 2021.
Located on the Stratton Business Park, the 45-acre site comprises units of 75,000 sq ft, 112,000 sq ft, 160,000 sq ft and 230,000 sq ft. Symmetry Park, Biggleswade is situated within immediate proximity of the A1 offering access to the M25 J23, 29 miles to the south.
Tritax Symmetry development director Tom Leeming said: “Buildings and construction are responsible for 39% of all carbon emissions in the world. As a responsible developer, we are proud to commit to delivering Net Zero Carbon in construction across all our new developments. To be the first developer to do so in Biggleswade and Central Bedfordshire is a real accolade and we hope to set the bar high for others.”
