Investment plans

SAMUEL GRANT PACKAGING has announced expansion plans, which will see them build a new 40,000 sq ft distribution and stockholding warehouse in the Logic Leeds logistics hub.

Neighbouring the Thorne’s Farm location of their current headquarters, the 110 acre Logic Leeds is located by Junction 45 of the M1. Samuel Grant Packaging will be joining the likes of Amazon, John Lewis and Premier Farnell, who have also set up significant distribution centres there.

During the pandemic Samuel Grant Packaging have been operating at full capacity, providing complete packaging solutions to the supply chain throughout the UK. Many packaging materials have been in short supply, largely due to the unprecedented demand in packaging for online deliveries, especially cardboard.

Samuel Grant has the buying power to be able to purchase and store huge amounts of packaging materials on behalf of their customers, so that their clients don’t see any downturn in production themselves due to shortages.

Joint managing director Andrew Grant says: “Packaging stockholding and distribution is now more valuable than ever in the supply chain, with many packaging materials having experienced shortages over the last year. As the North’s biggest distributor it’s important that we have enough space to continue to grow, and we have every confidence that the demand for our services will see us fill the new warehouse very quickly.”

The new warehouse expansion comes in the year that Samuel Grant Packaging celebrates its 130th anniversary and on the back of its investment in the UK’s only EUMOS certified pallet stability testing centre.
