DELIVERY SPECIALIST DX has secured a new warehouse on the Stakehill Industrial Estate in Middleton and repurposed part of a 107,000 ft2 property it already uses on the Lakeside Road Industrial Estate in Heathrow as Supersites dedicated to its growing two-man delivery division.
The two new sites takes the total number of 2-Man Supersites across the UK to eight. The Supersites were introduced to support continued growth in the DX Freight 2-Man division, which specialises in delivering larger and heavier consumer goods to customers.
DX 2-Man has a main hub based in Willenhall and 19 dedicated depots, including the eight Supersites. DX 2-Man also has a dedicated fleet operating over 100 daily routes and employs in excess of 350 colleagues.
The 2-Man Supersite network improves operational efficiencies, reduces stem mileage, carbon emissions and enhances customer service levels, a key focus for the Group. The DX Freight operation remains a key area of growth for the Group and further capital investment is planned over the remainder of the year to support this.
DX Group Chief Executive Officer Paul Ibbetson, said: "We have invested significantly in our depot network over the past few years and will continue this programme across the Group, including IT, vehicles and equipment."
The Northwest site totalling some 18,815 ft2 is on the Stakehill Industrial Estate, it has 40 cross dock loading bay (20 on each side) and is located on a secure self contained site. The Heathrow Supersite was originally operated by DX Express before being transferred to DX Freight last year. A part of this 107,000 ft2 building has been sectioned off for the 2-man operation.
