Sustainable material handling

COMBILIFT WILL focus on sustainability and electric operation as it demonstrates its safe, space-saving materials-handling solutions at LogiMAT.

Combilift’s CEO and co-founder Martin McVicar explains: “Sustainability is at our core – we’re highly focused on making our vehicles more environmentally friendly and helping our customers maximise their warehouse efficiency.”

The Irish manufacturer has a wide array of products, which includes multidirectional forklifts such as the C-Series and Combi-CB, the articulated Aisle Master, pedestrian stackers, powered pallet trucks and Straddle Carriers. With a focus on greener technologies, 98% of R&D investment is in energy-efficient and electric equipment, now making up over 70% of production. Visitors to Combilift's stand at LogiMAT can get a firsthand experience of its electric range.

One of the latest additions to the ever-growing electric range is the multidirectional Combi-CB70E. Designed with driver’s comfort in mind, this model was awarded the coveted ‘Ergonomic Innovation of the Year’ at the last edition of the UK Materials Handling Association Awards.

The Combi-CB70E has a lifting capacity of 7t and stands out as the most compact counterbalance in the market for its capacity. Its small footprint and lateral movement enable effortless navigation through confined spaces and narrow aisles, making it ideal for transporting long and bulky loads.

Martin McVicar says: “Almost every model in our extensive range of products is now available with electric power. The ever-increasing lift capacities will answer the demand for more powerful products, which at the same time help companies to achieve their aims for more sustainable operations.”

In addition to using electric power, optimising warehouse space plays a crucial role in making businesses’ material-handling operations more sustainable. It is important to explore space-saving strategies to enhance your existing facilities before considering expansion or relocation during periods of growth; in other words, “improving, not moving.” Narrowing aisles and using higher racking are two methods that Combilift’s design engineers can recommend as part of the company’s free warehouse planning consultancy service. The experienced team of design engineers provide diagrams and 3D simulations to help visualise how to increase extra storage capacity, and enhance workflow efficiency. Using Combilift’s versatile trucks, which can operate both indoors and outdoors, reduces the total number of forklifts needed, the energy consumed, and, in turn, the carbon footprint. Stand 9B45
