Retailer Babydump augments Autostore with AGRs

Posted on Friday 26 July 2024

THE RETAILER uses an Autostore ASRS to manage many orders, and uses robots from Prime Vision to transport empty boxes from box erectors to picking stations, conveyors and chutes, depending on order profile.

Babydump uses 12 autonomous guided robots (AGRs) from Prime Vision. The bots have a 35kg carrying capacity and a 50 x 70cm loading surface, ready to carry a wide variety of boxes. Using light detection and ranging (LIDAR) for guidance and safety, the robots can travel without QR markers or metal on the floor. An overarching fleet management system plots the most efficient route for each robot, ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity. Travelling at between 0.8 to 1.1 m/s, Prime Vision robots move items to the correct destinations.
