Bespoke system

Knights of Old consolidated its warehousing facilities to one central location and called on Link 51 to create a bespoke pallet racking system.

Among the criteria was that the 6,500 square metre facility had to provide easy access and full management control 24 hours a day, five days a week.

Link 51 designed and installed a 21-aisle system that incorporated 6,085 pallet locations in a narrow aisle racking configuration – more than fulfilling Knights of Old’s requirements.

Not only did Link 51 allow for a marshalling area at the front and space for a bulk storage area to one side, its designers also made full use of the roof pitch, creating an additional 800 pallet locations against the estimates of its competitors.

The installation also features FLT transfer tunnels for easy cross aisle access. On the open side, alongside the bulk storage area, anti-collapse wire netting has also been fitted, to prevent any items that are accidently dislodged falling into pedestrian areas.

“From the outset, I was impressed with Link 51’s understanding of our requirement and how they transferred that into a workable solution. Would I recommend Link 51and use them again? Most certainly,” said Knights of Old group logistics director Kelvin Gingell.
