Basingstoke based Gordian Strapping has integrated a side seal strapping machine into AAK UK’s packaging line at King George Dock in Hull.
The existing system at the edible oil specialist had become unreliable, resulting in down-time which was compounded by inadequate engineering support and the high cost of spare parts. Furthermore, the cost of strapping was at a premium because it could only be sourced in a special size from the existing supplier.
The system solution, an OMS 875A/B with a single sword TR14 HD strapping head, solves all these issues. AAK UK runs three daily shifts, meaning that the robust and reliable equipment supplied by Gordian was particularly attractive. The modular components of the strapping head, which allow for easy changeover was also an important factor, as was Gordian’s nationwide service support network.
