Picking in 3D
Cimcorp demonstrated its gantry robot technology at CeMAT, which has applications within car tyre factories, postal sorting centres, food retail and e-commerce.
The Cimcorp 3D Shuttle is a goods-to-person picking solution. The addition of a shuttle device to an overhead gantry has made Cimcorp’s robotic technology suitable for the storage and retrieval of totes required for order picking.
The 3D Shuttle is said to allow 80% of system time to be dedicated to feeding totes to the picking staff, with Cimcorp stating order picking is therefore six times more efficient than a manual solution.
The 3D Shuttle does not use racking – saving both cost and space, as well as avoiding the need for fire sprinkler systems, adds Cimcorp.
