Baumann expansion doubles capabilities

15 February 2025

Market-leading sideloader manufacturer, Baumann, has doubled its production capacity with the acquisition of a 47,000m² facility adjacent to its headquarters in Cavaion Veronese, Northern Italy.

FOLLOWING THE completion of the largest expansion project in the company’s 55-year history, the acquisition of the direct neighbour, a former stationary products manufacturer, will provide more room to grow and allow pre-assembly activities to commence immediately, including cabin manufacturing.

Over 1,200 lorry loads of earth were excavated for the most recent expansion of storage and production facilities, removing and buttressing much of a steep escarpment and adding over 3,000m2 of automated storage, around half of which is underground.

With this latest acquisition, which includes 14,000m² of covered production space, the award-winning business plans to increase efficiency by producing larger batch sizes of complete sideloaders and major assemblies, leading to shorter lead times and reduced costs.

“We are excited to announce that we have reached a groundbreaking agreement to acquire our direct neighbour,” said Baumann CEO Klaus Pirpamer. “This acquisition was a long-standing ambition of our founder, Wolfgang Baumann, something he would have been very happy to see happen as it provides a fantastic foundation for our long-term growth.”

“This move marks a significant milestone in our long-term strategy to strengthen our production capabilities and expand our business.”

As part of the expansion, Baumann has established a new division, Baumann Services, to offer complementary solutions, including rentals, repairs, financing, and the trading of used machinery. This initiative is also expected to create new opportunities in international markets.

Klaus adds: “In the short term, we will relocate our cabin production to the new halls, utilising the existing cranes. Finished, semi-finished, and used machines will also be displayed there, creating an ideal setting for presentations to dealers and customers.

“The new production halls will also feature a dedicated area for sales and technician training, ensuring we provide the best possible support to our international customers and dealers. Additionally, we will establish a space for professional photography of our machines to further enhance our visual communications.”
