Green buildings

21 October 2020

Supply chain disruption has created great warehouse demand in the UK, and quick-build temporary structures provide a flexible, low carbon footprint alternative to traditional buildings.

As well as having intrinsically lower carbon footprint, temporary buildings can offer flexible, cost effective and fast to market solutions. In addition, by paying close attention to the details, warehouse operators will realise they can achieve further environmental gains.

For example, Roder UK’s air-filled double-skin thermal roof system meets the strict requirements of Germany’s EnEV regulation. Lined with a fleece insert, it has an excellent heat transition coefficient (U) of only 0,7 W / (m² K).

As a result it can reduce heating energy consumption by up to 54% – resulting in lower operating costs. In addition, structures with translucent roof tarpaulins allow staff to work in daylight – especially when the days get shorter during wintertime. This also reduces lighting costs.

Temporary structures from Roder UK are designed from their very core to be flexible to customer needs through their modular construction, and also environmentally friendly. The frames are all designed to be reusable, and even recyclable if they ever reach the end of their serviceable life, and the cladding systems, whether steel, plastic or PVC are all made from recyclable and in some case already recycled materials.

To complement this, Roder UK are ISO9001, ISO 14001 and EMAS certified. This reinforces the commitment they have as a company to ensuring their solutions, and the individual components that make up those solutions are as environmentally friendly as possible.

A recurring desire from many of their customers is to ensure the whole supply chain can be shown to follow those ideals, which is a key component to the long term success that Roder UK have achieved, with this being part of the business model from the very early days.

With over 500,000m² of structures available to be rented over both short and longer terms, plus an in house manufacturing facility, Roder UK is well placed to serve its broad range of international clients.

Within the logistics and warehousing space, Roder UK have been very successful delivering both short term storage facilities for seasonal fluctuations and mid term storage and production facilities for companies that have been maximising use of space on existing sites.

Managing business risk is a key part of every company’s growth and sustainability plans. Roder UK have always believed and promoted the concepts of designing well, designing right, and delivering on those designs. With a wide range of structures that are available immediately for rental, or the option to customise or even completely bespoke the design of a structure, Roder UK are able to make your ideas a reality.
