Intelligent glove to boost warehouse picking
21 February 2019
ProGlove launched the second generation of its intelligent glove – Mark 2 – at LogiMAT.

The new version has the support of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), a larger scan range, faster image processing and longer runtime. The smart wearables are designed for use in industrial environments and are used in particular in production and logistics, but also in retail. The increased scan range of up to 59 inches makes MARK 2 an ideal scanner for picking applications.
The glove is seen as an alternative to mobile handheld scanners, which are more heavy and unwieldy. The smart wearables from ProGlove are said to address these problems as employees can easily trigger the scanning process.
BLE makes connecting the Plug and Play device to the corporate network even easier. In combination with tablets, smartphones and other portable devices, employees can work hands-free and without a station. The 1D and 2D barcode engine is twice as fast and much more accurate than before. In addition, MARK2 offers up to 50 percent longer battery life.
Depending on the application scenario and scan volume, two-shift operation is possible with one module.
Configuration
The smart IIoT wearables from ProGlove are used as a bundle by user companies. This consists of the mobile scanners, textile wearables, the chargers and the access points for the radio connection via 915 MHz. The connection of the scanners is now noticeably simplified with the support of BLE.
Nevertheless, MARK 2 is compatible with all existing wearables and access points. In addition, users have the option to configure the IIoT wearables individually using the Config Tool. Worker Feedback is an optional component as is the ability to set up a specific radio frequency via the ProGlove Custom Channel.
