A common misconception from both the material handling sector, and the wider population in general, is that automated solutions are purely a thing of the future. Featuring Linde industry experts, this webinar highlights how this isn’t the case – and why companies in all sectors have been implementing automated operations for over 30 years and are continuing to do so at an ever-increasing pace.
To begin, you will learn about not only the vast benefits that an automated solution could offer you, but Linde will also address some of the common concerns individuals and companies have surrounding the automated world within the material handling sector. The areas touched upon include:
- What’s happening in the marketplace
- Automation processes
- Linde’s full turnkey solution
To supplement the start of this webinar and offer substance to the stylish solutions spoken about, the webinar then takes you through the journeys Linde has had with companies that opted for its automated solutions. Here you will learn about:
- Customer journey examples
- Linde’s structures for success
- Linde’s specialist aftersales solution
Neatly wrapping up the webinar, you will hear from Linde’s customers about their experiences along their Linde Automated Solution journey. You will also be offered guidance on the next steps to take if your interest has been piqued. Concluding topics include:
- Next steps
- Building Block opportunities
- Multi-phase strategy - pathway/roadmap to rollout
Linde Logistics Solutions Automation Sales Manager Kenny Watson, says: “We’re doing this because we are seeing customer requirements changing. Where once the need was for basic forklift trucks, customers are now also telling us they need change, innovation and efficiency drivers for their operations.
“Industry 4.0, or the rise of next industrial revolution, is also important, as it is at the forefront of the minds of our customers. They want us to come up with new solutions to aid growth and cost reduction within their businesses.”
Linde Material Handling and parent company Kion Group have made big investments in automation. To name but two, Linde has developed a robotic forklift solution, and Kion Group has acquired the major, large-scale automated solutions provider Dematic.
“We’re doing this because we are seeing customer requirements changing. Where once the need was for basic forklift trucks, customers are now also telling us they need change, innovation and efficiency drivers for their operations.”
Kenny adds: “As a result we are very well placed to offer automated solutions across industry.”
Projections suggest automated forklifts could quickly grow to represent 20% of the UK forklift market, partly as a result of recent changes in the UK that have affected labour availability and cost. This would make automated models the fastest growing segment of the forklift industry and could represent 7,000 trucks sold per annum.
The Linde Logistics Solutions division is looking to bridge the gap between Linde forklift trucks and Dematic fully automated solutions (e.g. ASRS and sortation solutions) with automated forklifts, and much more.
Linde has created a new structure with four strands within Linde Logistics Solutions: robotics & automation; VNA; Storage solutions; and Consultancy services.
Linde also uses the webinar to demonstrate how it has added a computer brain to automate many of its standard model trucks, to boost warehouse efficiency.
Kenny explains some additional benefits: “For the sake of flexibility, the automated trucks can also be used manually. That the automated models are based on the standard trucks is also very useful from a service and maintenance perspective as the automated models have therefore largely parts in common with the standard trucks, making in it easier and more cost effective in terms of ongoing use.”
Linde also uses the webinar to explain the industry-leading robotic guidance system it uses on its automated trucks. This requires no additional infrastructure to be built on site, where the equipment will be installed, making it more expandable and flexible.
Linde also talks about the automated Linde Logistics Train, which is used in the industrial setting. Modern industrial production is dependent upon processes being perfectly coordinated. As a result, material flow during manufacture has become a decisive profitability driver. Watch to the webinar to learn how the Linde Logistics Trains can assist with this.
The webinar also tackles the safety concerns you may have about implementing automated equipment in the warehouse.
There are many, many other points of interest expanded on in the webinar.
I hope this has given you a flavour for the webinar, but there is nothing like seeing and hearing it for yourself, so follow the link and check out the webinar On Demand.
