Linde switches STR depot to Swanley

08 August 2024

Its truck rental depot was previously located in Hoddesdon for 30 years. The move to Swanley will support the company’s growth plans in this segment of the materials handling marketplace.

THE MOVE follows a significant increase in demand in the short-term rental market for such vehicles. Located close to the M25, Linde Material Handling UK will also be offering a nationwide delivery service for its short-term truck rentals. Each truck undergoes extensive checks prior to rental. The company is also extending its service offering to include a ‘pay as you go’ option for local short-term rentals.

Linde Material Handling UK managing director Craig Williamson, says: “With our new depot positioned so close to the M25, it presents the perfect base for our growth ambitions in the short-term rental market which is a vitally important and growing part of our business in the UK. We look forward to serving the evolving needs of local and national companies from our new facility in the town.

“Short term rentals have proved extremely popular for supporting customers’ when they have business peaks, such as the retail sector in the lead up to Christmas, as well as for one off specific requirements where investment in a dedicated fleet does not make commercial sense.”

Join us on our upcoming webinar with Linde on 4 September 2024 at 9.30am, to discuss what intralogistics can gain from the artificial intelligence revolution.

It has been predicted that almost a third of the value to be created by AI in the next 20 years will result from applying the technology to supply chains alone. With AI powered robotics, automation and data analytics already being commonly deployed, intralogistics has a lot to gain from the artificial intelligence revolution.
This webinar will hear from industry figures and AI experts on:

  • the potential of artifical intelligence in the warehousing environment covering productivity, safety, inventory control and contingency planning
  • what the warehouse of the future will look like and how it will operate
  • real world applications of the technology
  • managing the risks that come with its deployment
  • the implications for the workforce and skills development
