“The Finishing Line has continued to grow and diversify in recent years, so we were looking for new premises to enable us to bring all our services under one roof, capture synergies and drive efficiency, while providing an improved working environment for our workforce,” he says.
“Our modern new building is substantially larger than our current facilities, increasing our production capacity by up to 40% as well as providing significant extra storage space. The new location on Prologis Park in Basildon is just a short distance from our existing premises, which means we retain our strategic position, close to the ports of London Gateway, Felixstowe and Tilbury, and are within easy reach of the UK’s largest consumer market. This move means that we can accommodate increased demand for our services from existing and new customers alike, and we look forward to a further period of substantial growth.”
The new facility is 76,000 sq ft, with an 11,000 sq ft mezzanine floor and 6 dock levelling doors. It includes 60,000 sq ft of VNA racking and 14,000 pallet spaces. Future plans include establishing a Customs Bonded facility.
The Finishing Line was first set up 36 years ago by Andy Mead, initially operating from his garage. Today the company is a multimillion pound business, employing 120 workers and serving 80% of the UK’s publishing industry.
