Quick turnaround for bespoke storage solutions

06 September 2019

BiGDUG unveils a proposition of rapid order times and swift implementation for industrial customers, as the company explains.

Here at BiGDUG we’re organisers and we’ve helped businesses tidy up and organise their space since 2004. As one of the UK’s leading racking and storage retailers, we hold organisation at the heart of everything we do, it’s the golden thread that runs through our business.

We all know how much money can be wasted on inefficient storage that lacks order and consumes space; thinking you need a bigger warehouse, when actually, you just need help to make better use of what you have. Which is why every time a customer, big or small, comes to us we do everything we can to ensure they’re getting the best us of their space and utilising our product to its full capacity.

We also like to think we set ourselves apart by offering our customers not only the best products at the best prices but ensure the products we supply are simply fit for purpose and solve a problem. Which is why when Dutypoint approached us for help, we gladly supported.

Gloucestershire based manufacturing company The Dutypoint Group expanded to a new facility which enabled them to take part of their process in-house. With a hefty order book to fulfil, it was evident they needed to get their new facility up and running as soon as possible.

They were handed the keys to their new building on Thursday morning. That same afternoon, after a quick call into BiGDUG, Adrian – an expert storage planner from BiGDUG – visited their site to measure up and reinvent their storage space, despite having only received the enquiry two hours before.

We had a clean sheet of paper with regards to the area, it was on a mezzanine floor and needed to include benches and shelving that would work with a pick and assemble operation of reasonably small and medium sized components. The customer had never done this assembly themselves before as it had been contracted out, so we needed to read the situation and advise accordingly.

We specified a quantity of our BIG340 shelving and benches, as well as two runs of pallet racking. The products themselves were off the shelf but they were designed to work together. Each row of pallet racking had different specifications as one was for Goods-in, and the other was for Dispatch – the pallets coming in and going out are very different. We also supplied a number of assembly trolleys for the production area.

By Monday, the storage arrived ready to be installed. That same night, the BiGDUG installation team was ready and waiting to build their bespoke racking solutions, so that come Wednesday morning, Dutypoint could start fulfilling orders with more efficiency than ever before.

Dutypoint operations manager Emma Barnfield says: “If BiGDUG hadn’t provided the product and level of service they did, it would have had an almost catastrophic effect on our business. We work to incredibly tight deadlines and if we even miss delivery by one day, that could end up with hefty fines from our clients. This product range will be installed as part of a multimillion-pound new development, so if we say it’s going to be delivered on a specific day, it has to be.”

“I can’t recommend BiGDUG highly enough. Not just from a product quality perspective but the level of service they give, from; storage optimisation, understanding customer needs, bespoke solutions and even delivery and installation. We’re not just an invoice number."

BiGDUG was founded in 2004, and is now part of the global business equipment group, TAKKT. We already sell storage products to over 250,000 customers. Our dedicated Business Services team offer business customers a free site visit and expert help with all stages of storage projects, from initial enquiry right through to product installation.

“I can’t recommend BiGDUG highly enough. Not just from a product quality perspective but the level of service they give, from; storage optimisation, understanding customer needs, bespoke solutions and even delivery and installation. We’re not just an invoice number," adds Emma.

“We pride ourselves on putting our customers and their business needs first. If a customer has a specific need or problem, we will do everything we can to ensure we provide the right solution in the right time-frame for them. So that they can operate business as usual,” concludes Adrian from BiGDUG.
