PLANNING OFFICERS have recommended approval for the redevelopment of the former Littlewoods depot on Commercial Road, Sunderland, to provide 92,020 ft2 of industrial and logistics space.
The 9.6 acre site to be known as Eastgate Point has been vacant since the mid 2010s. The plans envisage the demolition of the existing warehouse for the development of seven units of which three are proposed at 8,392 ft2, one at 10,491 ft2 and three at around 18,000 ft2 each, as well as a drive thru coffee shop, and an EV charging station with provision for 18 cars.
A planning statement submitted with the proposal said that the scheme would provide "additional new high quality employment and commercial premises on a suitable site, which will help to support economic development in the city and create new jobs".
Promenade Park Properties engaged architect Building Design North to promote the scheme.
