IMHX 2019: Swisslog points the way to robot and data-based warehouse automation

08 August 2019

Intralogistics is evolving, and the future of warehousing requires flexible automation and smart data. At IMHX 2019, leading warehouse automation and software provider, Swisslog, is set to present innovations based on self-optimising, modular, software-driven and robotic technology.

IMHX visitors can see technology in action at the Swisslog booth. Shane Faulkner, head of sales for Swisslog in the UK is promising an exciting event.

“As the number one AutoStore integrator, we are proud to be exhibiting the solution on our booth,” he says. “With over 160 projects worldwide, we have implemented both the world’s largest AutoStore system and the world’s smallest.”

Visitors to the Swisslog booth can also learn about the next generation of the ItemPiQ robot order picking system, and how it can be linked to material handling solutions such as AutoStore. Swisslog has developed a unique solution that supports dramatically faster work processes with improved precision.

ItemPiQ is highly versatile for easy adaptation to the customer's changing product palette. Aided by artificial intelligence, the system "learns" the optimal picking method for each new item.

Every hour is happy hour on the Swisslog booth

The adaptability of the ItemPiQ technology will be demonstrated on the Swisslog booth in the form of a robotic bartender. “Anyone who has registered for IMHX can sign up via Swisslog.com to meet our robotic bartender for a complimentary beverage,” says Shane.

As Macmillan’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ takes place on the final day of IMHX, Swisslog will also be showing support for this very worthy cause. For every person that signs up for a complimentary logistics consultancy session on Friday 27th September, Swisslog will donate £5 to Macmillan and ensure plenty of robot-themed cakes are on offer!

As a company with its people at the heart of the organisation, Swisslog’s very own Wellbeing Month takes place throughout the month of September and will involve fun team building challenges, seminars and coaching sessions designed to encourage colleagues and customers to be aware of their wellbeing.

“We’ll be making the wellbeing of our colleagues a high priority at the event, as well as opening the doors for new talent.” says Shane. “Logistics professionals looking for a new challenge as part of a fun, inspiring and growing business should also step by the Swisslog booth.”

A technological pioneer

Swisslog designs, develops and delivers best-in-class automated logistics solutions for forward-thinking warehouses and distribution centres. With customers across more than 50 countries, the technological pioneer works with big name companies including ASDA, P&G, Wincanton, Ocado, Unilever, Walkers and Home Bargains. Shane believes events like IMHX provide an ideal platform to showcase their state-of-the-art solutions.

Shane concludes: “Increasing customer demand means businesses are continuously looking for ways to invest in productivity improvements and long-term savings. The great thing about our automation solutions is that they are flexible, modular, and can be expanded as the business grows. Shows like IMHX are a great opportunity for logistics professionals to experience this technology first-hand and discover the benefits for their own operation.”
