The key to reducing travel time
19 January 2023
ACCORDING TO a recent Global Warehousing Vision Study nearly eight in 10 associates say walking fewer miles per day would make their jobs more enjoyable, even if they had to pick or handle more items.

And 83% of associates who work alongside autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) today confirm the robots have helped increase their productivity and reduce their walking/travel time.
Depending on use case, Zebra customers have witnessed 2X-3X throughput and productivity increases, floor space gains, and saved one warehouse operator over 30km in manual travel per day. Another customer saved its workers 1,000km of manual travel within the first six months of deploying a robotics automation solution. Handing over materials movement to AMRs makes a lot of business sense.
Robotics automation solutions are easy to deploy for a range of warehouse materials movement use cases. Zebra offers a wide range of AMRs for pallet transport and cart connections as well as rollertop and order fulfilment AMRs. These robots can help solve labour and efficiency challenges related to storage carousel transport, work cell and lineside delivery, replenishment, cycle counting, recycling and rubbish removal.
Solutions come ready out-of-the-box so set-up and deployment can be achieved in a matter of hours or days rather than weeks or months. FetchCore comes with WorkFlow Builder featuring an easy-to-use graphical drag and drop interface so users can swiftly create custom workflow solutions. An API add-on allows data from external devices like mobile computers, tablets and barcode scanners to trigger or continue a workflow. WorkFlow Builder Scheduler provides an easy way to assign robots to workflows and define when and how often workflows are executed.
AMRs are a low-risk, high reward automation solution given that they can be deployed ‘as-a-service.’ You don’t have to make a significant upfront investment. You could test out 20 AMRs this month as part of a full-service robot as-a-service (RaaS) subscription model and then add 200 more next month.
