Tomorrow’s Warehouse unveils seminar agenda

Handling & Storage solutions editor Simon Duddy said: “We want attendees to go back to their operations with more than theoretical ideas, with more than an overview of what’s happening in the market. The event is split into four sessions, looking at the big picture in UK warehousing; warehouse automation; making the most of warehouse space; and the future of the forklift.

This session will examine how warehouse and logistics professionals can keep their operations efficient in the face of unprecedented change.

Kevin is a Director in Savills Research and covers all aspects of commercial occupational and investment markets but with a specific focus on industrial and logistics markets. Kevin co-ordinates market data collection across the UK. He specialises in topic and trend based research by applying “real life” issues to logistics and industrial property.

Speaker: Louisa Hosegood, Digital and Strategy Director, BIS Henderson Consulting

Session synopsis: Given the heightened pressure on warehouse supply and commercials, Louisa will share some ideas on how to navigate this evolving landscape. From a practical viewpoint she will outline some key considerations in relation to your warehouse space, operations and plans.

Previously with John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and Tesco, Louisa has extensive experience in shaping supply chain strategy, influencing transformation, driving insight, and brings a pragmatism to risk management in fast paced, demanding retail environments. Louisa is passionate about developing supply chains that are fit for the future – commercially sustainable, aligned with business strategy with an integrated, end-to-end approach.

Speaker: Nicola Jaynes, HM Inspector of Health and Safety, Transport Sector, The Health & Safety Executive

Session synopsis: HSE’s Transport and Logistics Team have recently looked into new forklift technologies – from increased automation, monitoring systems, to a trend towards more electric models – and have assessed the evolving safety challenges associated with this. Don’t miss this presentation where Nicola Jaynes will outline key learnings.

As one of HM Inspectors of Health and Safety, Nicola Jaynes has 20 years of regulatory experience with the Health and Safety Executive across numerous industry sectors.

In that time, Nicola has conducted and prosecuted investigations following multiple workplace fatalities, injuries and cases of ill health. Including numerous incidents in workplace settings with a transport related element.

Her current role is the policy lead for warehousing, work related road risk (WRRR), docks and aviation. The role involves devising national transport policy aimed at addressing health and safety performance in the transport and logistics sectors.

Session synopsis: Heightened environmental concerns, rising fuel prices and greater awareness of staff welfare are leading to a decline in LPG- and diesel-powered trucks while the market for low – or zero – emission lithium-ion and lead acid battery electric forklifts is growing significantly.
