Transmon Engineering celebrates 25 years

24 March 2021

Steve Coley, Founder and Managing Director of Transmon Engineering recently celebrated the company reaching a milestone of 25 years.

Back in 1996 Steve was already a time-served and experienced engineer and while working on an entirely different problem for a customer, he discovered that they were also having regular issues with operators `hot-shifting` and causing damage to the transmissions on their forklift fleet. The repairs were expensive, but the lost productivity was even more so.

Through his own research and electronics knowledge, Steve decided on the best solution, obtained work as a forklift engineer in order to test his theory, and soon came up with a prototype controller. The unit was fitted, and after extensive testing, the project was a success. Transmon Engineering was born.

Over the past 25 years, Steve and the team at Transmon Engineering have continued to develop numerous products and integrated solutions for materials handling vehicles including the Active Collision Avoidance System, Automatic Braking Systems as well as Speed Control Zoning, all now part of daily life across warehouses and storage facilities.

Steve Coley commented, “More than ever, health and safety in the workplace for both forklift truck drivers and pedestrians is of paramount importance. We have seen a dramatic increase in the demand for preventative solutions to ensure staff, the site and product stock, are all protected.”
