It ensures precise customisation to application-specific needs with three selectable operating modes and adjustable sensor cycle times.

Two Independent Transducers on a Single Evaluation Unit

This sensor system supports up to two ultrasonic transducers connected to a single evaluation unit. Each transducer operates independently, enabling the execution of multiple applications with a single device. The evaluation unit allows users to store and switch between two different parameter sets per channel, ensuring efficient adaptation during operation. With transducers available in cable lengths up to three meters, the system is particularly effective for monitoring directional movement in applications like automated guided vehicles (AGVs). The transducers' robust design and IP69-rated protection make the USi-industry ideal for outdoor environments.

Elliptical Sound Field for a Wide Sensing Range

Unlike conventional ultrasonic sensors that emit symmetrical sound beams, the USi-industry utilises a highly elliptical sound field. The unique opening angles (± 17° / ± 5°) provide an extended sensing range in one plane while maintaining a narrow detection field in the other. This design facilitates installations close to the ground or walls, effectively detecting switching targets and obstacles.

Evaluation Unit - in Industrial Quality

The evaluation unit connects up to two ultrasonic transducers via standardised M8 connections. An integrated USB interface allows a convenient connection to a PC for parameter adjustments using dedicated software. Users can store and switch between two parameter sets per channel without interrupting operation. The digital input can also disable outputs or accommodate dynamic environmental changes.

The evaluation unit is available in different configurations for additional functionality, including versions with four switching outputs or three switching outputs with a 4...20 mA or 0...10 V analogue output. The evaluation unit is housed in die-cast aluminium (IP65-rated) and is suitable for outdoor applications.

Safety compliance

For applications requiring safety compliance up to Category 3 PL d, the USi-safety sensor system is the ideal solution. This system includes two microcontrollers that continuously monitor connected sensors, internal hardware, and each other for proper functionality. Fail-safe in accordance with EN ISO 13849-1, the USi-safety features short-circuit and cross-circuit monitoring for enhanced reliability in critical environments.
