Allocate cost accurately with Yusen audit tool
Yusen Logistics has launched Freight Auditing Tool to give transparency to freight invoicing throughout lengthy and complex supply chains. The tool has been implemented with a European retailer with a global supplier base and is available to all industries.
The Freight Auditing Tool is a new option offered by Yusen’s in-house global visibility and management system Griffin. It has been created in response to customer demand for an accurate way of checking their freight invoices, as well as the need to allocate cost accurately throughout their supply chain. For customers with an integrated freight management solution, the Freight Auditing facility is a simple bolt-on which audits the service providers used throughout the supply chain from – overseas carrier through destination transport to warehouse.
Kevin Wolff, General Manager – Information Technology Management at Yusen Logistics sums up the benefits of the system:
- Checking whether invoices are actually valid or correct. In the case of ocean carriers, for example, approximately 20-30% of invoices can be incorrect, so accuracy of data can make a significant difference
- The tool produces a detailed cost split, calculating the freight costs per invoice down to individual SKU. This information can then be sent to the accounting department for cost allocation
- Efficiency – the system can deliver a major reduction in time spent on invoice checking and removes any risk of human error
The Yusen Logistics Freight Auditing platform enables the customer to make sense of the most complex rate systems, giving transparency and precise cost allocation and enabling an accurate and detailed audit trail to be created for every invoice. The system includes a message board facility allowing them to make notes against invoices and tailor-made reporting.
The Freight Auditing Tool has recently been implemented with a European retailer with a global supplier base and is available to all industries.
Looking to the future, Yusen Logistics is working on further developing the system, automating the data collection and creating a facility to link back to ERP systems.
