CeMAT battery innovation
Start-up to launch lithium-ion titanate batteries at CeMAT.
At the end of May in Hannover at CeMAT exhibition, KBK Europe will launch Umka lithium-ion batteries for all types of electric warehouse equipment and other electric vehicles.
The USP of this battery resides in lithium-titanate battery cells, which have never been used before in this technology field. The new generation of batteries is said to leave gel, lead-acid and lithium-ion accumulators far behind in all key parameters: it has 5 times more resource (16,000 chargedischarge cycles), it’s 30% more efficient, and charging by 30 times faster (20 minutes).
The company says: "Apart from higher efficiency rates and environmental friendliness the Umka battery has a higher degree of safety. It is explosion-proof and doesn’t emit gas during charging or operation, making the ventilating infrastructure unnecessary. Recharge is possible at any time without removing the battery."
The battery was designed by the Umka Lab company, which specialises in the creation of batteries for electric vehicles and hybrids, in partnership with the leading equipment manufacturers, such as Toshiba Corporation and Sevcon. The new battery has successfully passed tests of compatibility with loaders of different producers.
KBK Europe is the official dealer of Umka batteries in the EU. KBK Europe is the European subsidiary of the Japanese Engineering trade firm Kyokuto Boeki Kaisha Ltd.
