CML invests £400,000 in new fleet from Crown
Core Management Logistics has invested £400,000 in updating half of its fleet of mechanical handling equipment.
The major new investment is part of CML’s ongoing growth strategy and the new Crown Trucks will provide improved efficiency throughout its warehouse, as well as support its expanding operations.
CML bought four types of truck from Crown – two man-up combi trucks for narrow aisle work, powered pallet trucks, counter balance trucks and reach trucks. The new fleet is now in use across CML’s 270,000 sq ft warehouse based at Lutterworth’s Magna Park.
The purchase follows CML’s three high profile contract wins. At the end of 2013 it won an international contract with luxury underwear line Björn Borg to distribute its products in 15 countries and the company also recently announced new contracts with Triumph cosmetics and retail giant Halfords.
Commenting on this latest investment, Managing Director, Graham Copley, said, “We have experienced a strong period of growth over the past 12 months and this is reflected in our fleet replenishment and our acquisition of new contracts. The investment with Crown represents a desire to keep our fleet reliable and efficient and this strategy is expected to produce significant operational benefits to the business.
“Our working relationship with Crown is a very trusted one and for over 10 years we have been able to keep up-to-date with the latest technology and advances. We are extremely pleased with our new fleet and as a company we want to continue to show customers and potential new business that we are committed to providing the very best in service from investing in not only our future, but their future needs as well.”
Crown’s UK Sales Director Simon Barkworth commented, “The Crown fleet supplied is equipped with Crown’s award winning Infolink fleet management system and the resulting cost savings and efficiency improvements experienced by CML have been significant.
“Since its introduction onto the previous fleet in 2008, CML saw an improvement in fleet utilisation and efficiency, a boost in driver productivity and a dramatic reduction in damage and operating costs. The CML fleet is fully maintained and supported by Crown with our service engineer making a daily call to site to check the fleet and ensure all equipment is working correctly and efficiently.”
