Logistics community rallies behind Safer Logistics

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

2018 is shaping up to be the biggest and best yet for the Western Business Exhibitions, Health & Safety Event at the NEC, 10-12 April 2018.

The H&SS Safer Logistics Zone will form a key part of the Show, with its own dedicated Exhibitor Zone & Seminar theatre, and endorsed by headline sponsors Toyota Material Handling UK and A-Safe.

With the topic of Health & Safety becoming integral to the purchasing decision in the Warehousing & Logistics sectors, the Safer Logistics event will seek to provide a wealth of education & advice that tackles safety hot spots across the breadth of our market.

Our 2018 Seminar programme promises invaluable presentations from a line-up of industry leading organisations including The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT), The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA), The Health & Safety Laboratory (HSL), and RTITB.

Attendees will be alerted to risks & dangers, informed of best practice, and above all listen to a can-do attitude towards safety in the workplace.

This Event will give our exhibitors the opportunity to present their products & services to key decision makers from Blue-chip companies across the UK. Attendees to our 2017 event included managers & directors responsible for Compliance, Health & Safety, Purchasing, Production, Operations & Transport from big name companies such as Airbus, Aldi, Allied Bakeries, Amazon, AMEY, Balfour Beatty Rail, CEVA logistics, Boots UK, Nestle UK, Ocado, Tesco Distribution, Wilko, XPO Logistics, Yusen Logistics, and Yodel to name but a few.

Key industry figures have backed Safer Logistics including:

Peter Harvey, CEO, Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA)

“Fork lift trucks are the most dangerous type of workplace transport – seriously injuring as many as 800 workers each year. Engaging staff at all levels is key to reducing risk on site, so we are proud to support Safer Logistics, which shares our long-standing commitment to safety and track record for instigating change.”

Glen Davies, Transport & Logistics Safety Forum, CILT

"As part of the Transport & Logistics Safety Forum, at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, it’s great to collaborate with other campaigns, such as Safer Logistics to reinforce the aims we are all working towards. Raising safety awareness, reducing risk of injury and preventing people from harm must be our number one priority. If we can’t do it safely we shouldn’t do it at all."

Stuart Taylor, Managing Director, Mentor Training

“Thankfully, operator training is now widely accepted as a necessity, but we need to spread the message – through events like Safer Logistics – that, in order for change to be effective, businesses need to take an inclusive approach to training and involve managers, supervisors and even pedestrians. Anyone who works alongside materials handling equipment needs to be aware of the danger it presents so that they can work with their colleagues to maintain a safe working environment, especially those in supervisory roles who play a vital role in ensuring good practice is upheld.”

Andrew Drewary, Road Risk Manager at Broadspire, a Crawford Company, and leading member of the CILT’s Transport & Logistics Safety Forum

"The Safer Logistics Conference held within the Health and Safety Event at the NEC provides an excellent learning arena from various industry experts who are more than happy to pass on their knowledge and expertise. The range of speakers is very diverse and covers something for everyone. This is a must attend event for anyone involved in health and safety sector."

Martin McVicar, Managing Director, Combilift

"As a manufacturer of handling solutions, we value the information that is shared at the Safer Logistics Conference. The experience and quality of the speakers makes attendance very worthwhile."

Sophie Marsden, PR Manager at A-SAFE HQ

"Safer Logistics provides an excellent opportunity for audiences throughout the industry to increase their awareness on health and safety. The Health & Safety Event at the NEC is also a great platform to maximise this message and reach out to new people – it is absolutely essential that influencers within the logistics industry such as Handling & Storage Solutions continue to emphasise the importance of workplace health and safety."

The Health & Safety Event provides the perfect networking and educational opportunity to anyone responsible for running a safe and efficient workplace, anywhere in the UK.
