Reachstacker launches
Terex Port Solutions (TPS) has launched its new generation Liftace 5-31 reach stacker, which is the first of five new machines to be introduced by TPS in the next few months.
The launch of the Liftace 5-31 reach stacker will be followed by the introduction of four new Stackace empty container handlers in the near future. The new products combine the strengths of proven TPS technology and the two legacy Terex brands of PPM and Fantuzzi with state-of-the-art innovative features. The machines are cost-effective, service friendly and ergonomic. They offer low fuel consumption, simple maintenance and an ergonomic cab design.
With a wheelbase of 6,200 mm the Liftace 5-31 reach stacker can stack up to five high-cube (9‘6‘‘) containers in the first row, with typical load configurations of 45 t in the first row, 31 t in the second row and 15 t in the third row. The robust design of the new Liftace 5-31 reach stacker incorporates an advanced boom design. Its inherent rigidity and increased radius facilitate more accurate and faster operation.
The Terex Liftace 5-31 reach stacker cab was developed following cooperation with drivers and experts in ergonomics. The operator friendly design makes for safe, comfortable and productive operation. The cab offers low interior noise level and an excellent view. It can be manually adjusted as standard for service access and an optional powered sliding cab is also available. The redesigned, intuitive control and visualisation system, with an ergonomic joystick and 7 inch graphic display, help to provide safe operation. TPS offers a variety of options, including reversing sensors and a camera system.
The design of the Liftace 5-31 reach stacker has been driven by lower operating costs, compared to previous models. The interplay of engine and gearbox with the drive axle, together with the low overall weight of the Liftace 5-31 reach stacker and good load distribution of its chassis make for considerably reduced tyre wear. The modern drive train, combined with the load sensitive hydraulic system reduces fuel consumption, which is further improved by its EcoPower operating mode. The lighting system features LED technology as standard.
The new TPS lift trucks help terminal operators to handle containers even more cost effectively in an increasingly competitive market. Klaus Peter Hoffmann, vice president & managing director TPS, stated: “The mixture of competitive operating costs, ease of maintenance and convenience at the man and machine interface makes the new machines efficient overall packages. All Terex lift trucks are being developed by international teams. In this way, the combined expertise of TPS is being incorporated into the new machines. The first example of this is the newly launched Liftace 5-31 reach stacker.”
In the development of the new lift trucks, TPS has combined modules from its own production with high quality components from renowned suppliers. A standard key component of the new Liftace reach stacker is the proprietary light-weight and robust Terex top pick spreader. The machine is also available with wide top pick (WTP) or piggyback spreaders. For the engines, TPS relies on state-of-the-art technology from Volvo and Cummins. These engines meet the EPA Tier 4 final (EU Stage IV) emission standard and are specifically tuned to the Dana TE30 gearbox, designed especially for lift trucks.
Durable components and ease of maintenance promote increased availability
TPS has also reduced maintenance requirements and increased the uptime of its reach stackers, through a combination of durable components, longer maintenance intervals and better access to maintenance points.
