Tyres boost for heavy load lifting

Trelleborg launched ProHD, a tyre compound that is engineered to increase the load capacity in critical material handling applications at the recent CeMAT event.

ProHD is intended for high load uses, and has been designed to reduce the risk of operational failures due to overloaded tyres. This new compound resists radial cracking and limits heat buildup in tyres, radically improving driver safety in heavy duty operations, says the tyre specialist.

Gianluca Abbati, director R&D Material Handling and Construction at Trelleborg Wheel Systems, said: “The ProHD material handling tyre compound is really exceptional and resilient even in extreme conditions. Some high load warehouse activities can cause tyres to crack or even potentially melt. ProHD is a solution that reduces this risk as it eliminates radial cracking.

“We are very proud to show our customers and partners the ProHD innovation at CeMat 2018. It provides an effective solution that not only improves safety, but also fuel economy, battery life and gives better truck stability.”

The ProHD will gradually be available on premium Trelleborg material handling tyres that will also feature the Pit Stop Line. The option will be extended to the press on solid range in the future.

Trelleborg launched ProTex, a revolutionary compound for material handling tyres, which combines a non-marking feature with full electrical conductivity capabilities at the show.

The new solution, fully compliant with the stringent EN 1755 regulation, will upgrade safety standards for material handling operations, protecting operators against the risks related to static electricity.

Trelleborg is the first manufacturer to offer a fully non-marking resilient tyre produced from an anti-static compound.

Gianluca Abbati, Director R&D Material Handling and Construction at Trelleborg Wheel Systems, said: “The intensity of material handling applications operating in potentially explosive environments is a key challenge. Being in control of this maintains the safety of both machine and its operator, as well as ensuring material handling operations runs smoothly.

“What makes the ProTex compound really special and unique is the fact it is 100% anti-static due to its unique polymer recipe. Static electricity is continuously released at any point of contact between the tire and the ground while at the same time eliminating risk of marking. Our designers took into consideration the high intensity of forklifts jobs and created a solution that is EN1755 compliant.

The ProTex compound will gradually be available on premium Trelleborg non-marking material handling tyres that will also feature Pit Stop Line.

Initially the ProTex innovation will be introduced on resilient tyres, the most popular type of material handling tyre in Europe. The option will however be extended across the whole Trelleborg material handling tyre range in the future.

Trelleborg Wheel Systems showcased its full range of tyres for the material handling market at CeMAT.

This included the Pit Stop Line and Premia, as well as the T-900 & TR900 industrial pneumatics. Pit Stop Line Elite XP resilient tyres, feature a built-in, visible line that appears when the tyre has just 100 hours remaining before replacement.

This innovation allows the user to achieve the best total value of ownership, as well as benefitting from increased productivity and safety, while reducing environmental impact across a fleet. Also on show were the bias and radial industrial pneumatics T-900 and TR900, which along with the Press On and Mould On ranges, makes the Trelleborg range one of the most comprehensive on the market.
