Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

Yusen Logistics UK is supporting National Lorry Week, a new initiative to help raise awareness of the road freight industry and its importance to the UK economy.

Running from 26th to 31st October, National Lorry Week aims to highlight the wider economic and social impacts of issues affecting the industry, such as the UK driver shortage, fuel duty and road maintenance. Along with greater public awareness, the RHA are hoping to make a stronger case for support on these issues from local MPs and the government.

Yusen Logistics UK is lending support to the campaign by promoting National Lorry Week via its website and on social media. The Company will also be taking part in the Association’s national “Love the Lorry” sticker competition, featuring the stickers on all own fleet travelling in and around the Northampton area.

Managing Director, Kevin Appleton says, “The road freight industry is extremely important to the UK economy, contributing over £70 billion per year. In addition to this, eighty percent of UK freight is delivered by road. It is important that we raise awareness of just how crucial the industry is – not just to our economy, but to our everyday lives.”

Yusen Logistics UK has been an active member of the RHA for over twenty years, supporting a number of industry campaigns, including the UK driver shortage.
