Brysdales ties up robotics collaboration
STORAGE SPECIALIST Brysdales Intralogistics has established a partnership with robotics firm Rainbow Dynamics to offer warehouse robotics to SMEs in the UK market.

The venture is being driven by industry veteran Jaap Vos, who most recently held a senior role at one of the world’s leading Intralogistics companies.
Now managing director at Brysdales Intralogistics Jaap explains: “We are in strong partnership with Rainbow Dynamics in the UK and are busy kitting out the Chorley warehouse with the company’s various robotic solutions so we can use this as an experience centre for interested customers. We are building a shuttle there for 550 pallet locations, so we can have a fully running, working environment to demonstrate what the technology can do. We see a big opportunity for our 3D pallet shuttle in the UK market. The shuttle moves down aisle, cross aisle and via a pallet lift has access to all storage levels and combined with our Levi Pallet Mover is a completely autonomous and dense pallet storage solution.”
The system uses Asian-built robots, and will use UK produced steel in deployments. Jaap sees SMEs and cold/frozen storage as the key target customer and is looking for other strong partnerships, in vertical lifts and software, for example, to help build out the offering further, as well as building a strong service and support model for customers.
“SMEs are really struggling to find people to fill warehouse roles,” adds Jaap. “It’s not about replacing people, it’s about taking the mundane tasks out and allowing employers to re-deploy valuable workers where they can make a real difference.”
Over time, Jaap envisages Brysdales growing the business by bringing in further products from Rainbow’s portfolio, currently already consisting of AMRs, Cage and Pallet movers and a newly developed shelving based RackBot solution.
“The robotics sector is a fast becoming a crowded space, and we want to stand out by making this technology accessible to smaller companies.”
