Thurrock Council has approved a new 10-year Local Development Order to enable continued expansion at DP World’s 9 million ft2 London Gateway Logistics Park.

London Gateway Park gets new LDO

By Liza Helps Property Editor Logistics Matters

AROUND HALF the logistics park is now built and the LDO will facilitate the development of the rest of the space.

The LDO streamlines planning processes for new construction projects, which are all built to a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ classification as standard. Under the LDO, new builds at the Park are granted final approval within 28 days, enabling rapid progression from agreeing a lease to construction and establishment of new facilities.

DP World’s London Gateway Park also sits within the government-backed Thames Freeport, which was established in 2021, providing tenants of the site with wide-ranging financial benefits, including business rate, stamp duty and national insurance contributions relief.

A previous 10-year LDO was agreed in 2013 and resulted in the construction of 17 state-of-the-art facilities for 16 occupiers, totalling more than 4 million ft2 and creating 1,500 permanent jobs onsite.

Joint agents at the scheme are Glenny and Savills.
