Dematic opens state-of-the-art offices in Lithuania

Posted on Friday 1 January 2010

The automated equipment supplier has invested to secure the skilled engineering resources needed for future expansion.

Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of Dematic’s establishment of an Engineering and Consulting office in Lithuania, the business has made a significant commitment to further developing its regional centre for engineering design and analytics.

Opened on the 18th January by Tom Klanderman, Senior Vice President Global Project Engineering, Dematic, in the presence of senior engineering management from across Europe, the new offices are a centre of excellence for Dematic’s Controls Engineering, Solutions Design and Financial Analysis disciplines.

The move to a 1000 square metre open-plan suite in the newly built Kauno Dokas Centre, close to the heart of Kaunas, will help facilitate the recruitment of a near doubling of the number of skilled Dematic engineers, consultants and analysts based in the city – taking staff numbers from 70 to over 130 within the next few years.

Commenting on the move to the new building, Tom Klanderman, says: “Dematic is expanding and we need more and more people with good engineering skills to work both here and abroad. The reason that Dematic is committed to Lithuania is that there is a large pool of well-educated, skilled individuals keen to embrace core areas of competence for Dematic, such as engineering, systems modelling and analytics. These state-of-the-art offices offer a wonderful space to work and will, I’m sure, be very attractive to individuals looking to work in an advanced and exciting business.”

Referring to the landmark anniversary of Dematic’s presence in Lithuania, Brendan Lacy, Vice President Global Project Engineering, EMEA, Dematic says: “Over the past ten years we have developed a highly capable team of loyal and talented individuals in Kaunas. I am confident that we have invested well to support and grow those capabilities.”

Vadim Major, Office Manager for Dematic’s Kaunas facilities, says: “Our skilled workforce relies on advanced IT and fast communications, so it can be no coincidence that we are established here, as Lithuania is No.1 in Europe for its optical internet penetration. It helps office efficiency and makes working remotely much easier.”

The new offices are more than double the size of the previous facilities and are more conveniently located close to the city centre with easy access to fast transport links.
