Downton invests in 300 new trucks and trailers

The transport group has ordered 100 DAF trucks, 100 Cartwright curtainsiders and 100 Tiger Trailers curtainsiders.

The additional capacity provided by these vehicles will support new and existing contracts. The equipment will be delivered during 2017 and has been chosen because of the longstanding relationship with each supplier.

Andy Downton, MD of CM Downton, said: “We have secured significant new business recently and increased operations with a number of existing clients. These new vehicles will provide additional capacity and flexibility to meet the demands of these operations.”

The highly efficient DAF XF trucks, among the most powerful in the manufacturer’s range, have been configured to Downton’s own specification including MX13 460bhp Euro 6 engine, Super Space Cab, 6×2 axle configuration, and AS Tronic automatic transmission. As with all Downton trucks, these will be maintained in-house by Downton. The Tiger Trailers and Cartwright trailers are all fitted with EN-standard curtains and have been configured to Downton’s specification.
