Launch set for first ‘open source’ forklift
Noblelift will release the Alpha-50v1.0 lithium forklift, the world’s first open-source forklift, on July 1st, 2025.

THE CHINESE manufacturer says the project is designed to help users transition from IC trucks to cleaner electric power.
The manufacturer is inviting people to join the project’s open source community or become a distributor of the Alpha-50v1.0. The truck will use LFP battery chemistry.
The project envisages the establishment of a open-source design community that would foster innovation and lower long-term maintenance costs through collaboration. Other potential benefits include extending the life of existing equipment, minimising waste and maximising investment by allowing for the conversion of fuel-based models to electric. The plan is to use common component sourcing, sharing components with major fuel-based supply chains.
Updated versions of the Alpha-50 will be made available annually.
The Alpha-50v1.0 will be initially offered by Noblelift North America, a dealer of the forklift manufacturer Noblelift, at an MSRP of $29,000 USD.
